For a copy of your data, or to fix or delete it, write to privacy@calyro.io from the email address you sign in with. We answer within 30 days.

Delete your account

In the app

  1. Open Mom's Cookbook and go to Home.
  2. Tap the circle with your initial at the top right.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
  4. Read what will be deleted, then tap Delete my account again.

If it stops halfway, the app says Finish closing my account. Tap it to finish.

Without the app

Write to privacy@calyro.io from the email address you sign in with, with "Delete my account" in the subject. We'll delete your account and everything in it within 30 days, and write back when it's done.

What it deletes

Your recipes and their photos, your tags, cookbooks and the shares you made, meal plans, grocery lists, imports, Maman chats, planner settings, and your kitchen helper with her photo. Recipes and cookbooks you shared disappear for your family too. It can't be undone.

A few things stay, like our backups until they're deleted (we ask for that within 8 weeks, and the company that stores them then finishes it), and copies of your recipes that family members saved for themselves, with their photos. The privacy policy lists them all.

Paying for Plus or AI Pro?

Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. It tries to stop a Google Play subscription, but it may not. So cancel your subscription first, where you bought it:

When you tap Delete my account, the app shows each plan that can still charge you. If you bought it in your phone's store, tap Manage my subscription to cancel it there.

Signed in with Apple?

When you delete your account in the app, we ask Apple to stop Mom's Cookbook using your Apple sign-in. If the app then showed you Apple's steps, or we deleted your account for you because you wrote to us, remove Mom's Cookbook from your Apple account yourself:

Apple's own page has the same steps.

Common questions

Signing in

How do I sign in? Tap Continue with Google, Continue with Apple (on an iPhone or iPad) or Continue with email.

Why did I get a code by email? We send one when you make an account, when you sign in on a new phone, and when you reset your password. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder.

I forgot my password. Tap Continue with email, then Forgot your password?. We'll email you a code to set a new one.

It says "This account signs in with Google or Apple." Use the same button you used when you made your account.

I made my account with Apple, and now I have an Android phone. The Apple button shows only on iPhones and iPads. Write to us and we'll help.

Sharing

How do I share a cookbook? Open the cookbook and tap Share. Type the person's email address, then tap the plus button.

Will they get an email? No, we don't send one, so let them know. When they sign in with that same email address, the cookbook shows up in their Recipes. Until then, it says "waiting for them to join".

Someone shared a cookbook with me. How do I see it? Make your account with the email address they shared it with. It'll be waiting for you.

Can they change my recipes? No. They can read your recipes and cook from them, and save their own copy. Only you can change what's in your cookbook.

What do they see about me? Your name and email address, with the cookbook.

How do I stop sharing? Open the cookbook, tap Share, then Remove next to their email address. The cookbook disappears for them. A copy they saved for themselves stays theirs. If we ever have to restore our database from a backup, everything changed after the backup's moment is undone, up to about 7 weeks before the problem; account deletions are always applied again.

Importing recipes

What can I import? In Recipes, tap Add, then choose:

You can also share a recipe to Mom's Cookbook from another app.

A link didn't work. Tap Paste the recipe text instead, and paste the recipe or the post's caption.

Who reads my photos and files? An AI made by OpenAI reads photos, PDFs, captions and pasted text. The privacy policy explains what we send and how long it's kept.

Is there a limit? Free and Plus include a set number of AI readings a month, and AI Pro includes up to 300 a month. The app tells you when you reach your limit, and the count starts again on the 1st of the month.

Should I check the recipe? Yes, always. The AI can misread an amount or a temperature, so check the recipe before you save it.

Maman

Who is Maman? Your kitchen helper. She knows your cookbooks and your week. Ask her what to make tonight, what to use instead of cream, or to make a recipe less spicy or for 8 people.

It says "Maman is almost ready." She isn't switched on yet. Chatting with her opens on that screen as soon as she's ready.

Which plan includes her? Your plan on the Account screen shows how many questions a month it includes.

Can I call her something else? Yes. Go to Home, tap the circle with your initial at the top right, then, under Your kitchen helper, tap Change her name or how she looks. Choose the name you call her and how she looks, including a photo of your own. If the photo shows someone else, add it only if they'd be happy with that.

Will she change my recipes? No. When she writes or changes a recipe, you check it first, and it's saved as a new recipe. Your original stays as it was.

Can she be wrong? Yes. Check amounts and cooking temperatures, and always read the labels for allergies. She doesn't give medical or nutrition advice. The terms say more.

Who sees my questions? An AI made by OpenAI reads them so she can answer. We clear the words of your chats after 30 days, but keep the recipes she writes for you.

Plans and subscriptions

What does the free plan include? Up to 20 recipes, cookbooks to share with family, and grocery lists you write yourself. Plus adds unlimited recipes, the weekly planner and grocery lists made from your plan. Maman is part of AI Pro, and Plus includes 10 of her questions a month.

How do I upgrade? Go to Home, tap the circle with your initial at the top right, then tap See plans under "Your plan". Choose a plan and how often to pay, then confirm in your store. The app also shows See plans when you reach a limit of your plan or open something it doesn't include.

Does my plan work on my other phone? Yes. Your plan goes with your Mom's Cookbook account, on every phone and tablet where you sign in to it. To change or cancel it, use the store where you subscribed.

My plan doesn't show. Check that you're signed in to the account you subscribed with. If it still doesn't show, tap Restore purchases, on "Choose a plan" or under "Your plan" on your Account screen. It finds the plans bought with the Apple or Google account your phone uses, and moves them to the account you're signed in to, even from another Mom's Cookbook account, which then loses them.

How do I cancel? In the store where you subscribed (see "Paying for Plus or AI Pro?" above). Under "Your plan" on your Account screen, each subscription says where it's paid. On a phone that uses that store, tap Manage my subscription to go straight to it. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.

How do I get a refund? Apple and Google handle refunds for purchases made in their stores. If they send you to us, write to us.

Your data

Who can see my recipes? You, and the people you share a cookbook with.

Can I get a copy of my recipes? Yes. Go to Home, tap the circle with your initial at the top right, then tap Download my recipes under "Keep a copy". You get one file with your recipes, photos and videos, cookbooks, plans and lists, to save on your phone or send to yourself. For a copy of anything else we keep about you, write to privacy@calyro.io from the email address you sign in with.

The privacy policy explains the rest.
